At the recent Coachella festival, rapper Tupac Shakur who died in 1996, was resurrected for a set with Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg.
The effect (incorrectly referred to in most web articles as a "hologram") simply uses a 200 year old technique known as "Pepper's Ghost", with a CGI Tupac projection being partially reflected by an angled piece of glass on stage, making him appear to hover before the audience.
We love how 200 year old ideas and modern tech have been brought together to create this illusion...
